Mindspin proudly participated in the international event “Diverse Youth Work,” held in the vibrant city of Antwerp. The event brought together youth workers and organizations from across Europe to explore innovative approaches and inclusive practices in supporting young people. Antwerp, renowned for its cultural richness and dynamic urban spirit, served as the perfect backdrop for this gathering. The program, hosted by Roots Vlaanderen and supported by the Erasmus+ program, provided participants with valuable insights into youth work policies and practices in Flanders.
Engaging with Local Organizations
During the event, Mindspin had the unique opportunity to visit several local organizations, including Roots & Kras, Saamo & Fleks, and Moving Ground & JC Bouckenborgh. These visits showcased the remarkable work being done to empower young people, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds. Each organization presented inspiring methods and collaborative approaches, emphasizing the role of youth work in fostering community and personal growth.
Discussions with Antwerp Municipality
In addition to these visits, participants engaged in a meaningful dialogue with representatives from the Municipality of Antwerp. These discussions delved into the city’s youth work policies, which prioritize diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. The exchange of ideas highlighted the importance of collaboration between municipalities and youth organizations in creating sustainable impact.
The event was not just a learning experience but a platform for sharing best practices. Mindspin contributed by presenting our initiatives and engaging in dynamic workshops that explored the intersections of youth work with culture, education, and sports. The workshops facilitated cross-cultural dialogue and reinforced the importance of unity in diversity.
A shared vision for the future
As the event concluded, participants reflected on the shared vision of a more inclusive society where youth work serves as a bridge to opportunity and empowerment. The rich experiences and insights gained in Antwerp will undoubtedly inspire new strategies and collaborations in the youth work sector.
